CECC confirms 2 more imported cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the Philippines and Mexico
Date:2021-04-29On April 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced two new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those two new cases arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines (Case #1118) and Mexico (Case #1119).
Case #1118 is an over 20-year-old female migrant worker from the Philippines. The female migrant worker traveled to Taiwan for work on April 7. She was tested for COVID-19 on April 20, before completing the quarantine period, and she tested negative. Due to work requirements, she visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on April 27. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 29 (the CT value was 36).
Case #1119 is a Taiwanese male in his 40s. He visited Mexico for official business in January and returned to Taiwan on April 18. He experienced a cough and fever on April 24. The health authority then arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo testing on April 26. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 29 (the CT value was 23).
